Overview

ParentBrief is designed for families to check if content is safe for their children. This Fair Use Policy ensures that all users have access to our services while preventing abuse that could affect service quality for others. We use advanced bot detection and rate limiting to protect our service and legitimate users.

Search Limits

Starter Plan ($9.99/month)

200 searches per billing period with 3-day free trial

Resets on your billing renewal date

Family Plan ($30/month)

900 searches per billing period

After 900 monthly searches: 10 searches per day until your next billing cycle
Daily limit resets at midnight (your local time)

What is Fair Use?

Personal family use checking books, movies, games, and content for your children

Taking photos of book covers, movie posters, or game boxes for safety analysis

Sharing account access with immediate family members (spouses, children in household)

Using safety reports for parental decision-making

Prohibited Use

Automated/bulk usage: Using scripts, bots, browser automation, or any automated tools to generate searches

API scraping: Attempting to access our API directly without using our official interface

Commercial reselling: Reselling access or reports to third parties

Account sharing: Sharing login credentials with individuals outside your immediate household

Circumvention: Attempting to bypass rate limits, usage tracking, or security measures

Bot Detection & Security

We employ multiple layers of security to detect and prevent automated abuse:

Behavioral analysis: We analyze interaction patterns (typing speed, mouse movements, submission timing) to distinguish humans from bots
Device fingerprinting: Anonymous device signatures help us identify suspicious activity across sessions
Request pattern monitoring: Unusual request patterns (too fast, too consistent, unusual hours) trigger additional verification
Invisible challenges: Hidden form elements that only bots interact with

Note for legitimate users: Our bot detection is designed to never affect normal human usage. If you encounter any issues, please contact support with your account email.

Enforcement Actions

When suspicious activity is detected, we take progressive enforcement actions:

Level 1: Rate Limiting

Automatic slowdown of requests. You may experience brief delays between searches.

Level 2: Verification Required

Additional human verification may be requested for continued access.

Level 3: Account Suspension

Temporary or permanent suspension for confirmed abuse. Appeals can be submitted via email.

Important: We reserve the right to immediately ban accounts engaged in clear automated abuse without prior warning to protect our service and other users.

Automatic Rate Limits

The following rate limits are enforced to ensure fair access and prevent abuse:

Appeals & False Positives

If you believe your account was incorrectly flagged or suspended:

Paid subscribers: Contact us immediately at support@parentbrief.com with your account email. We prioritize review for paying customers and will restore access within 24 hours if the flag was in error.

Free users: Email support@parentbrief.com with your device details. Reviews are processed within 3-5 business days.
